A page devoted exclusively to the show's RATINGS has been added. Matt Roush of TV GUIDE had this to say about "MI" in today's column: [I don't love the show, but I certainly think it's a step up from NBC dregs like Hawaii and LAX. Like its dreadful title, there's something a little too generic about MI's procedural nature, but some of the medical mysteries can be compelling and the cast (most particularly McDonough, but also Williams and Christopher Gorham) almost always manages to make things interesting, although even McDonough's snarling tirades may grow old over time. It is a step down, qualitywise, from Boomtown, but that's the current state of NBC for you. We should be grateful the show's as interesting as it is. And I'd be very surprised if it doesn't get a full-season pickup soon. It's doing relatively well on Fridays, against weak competition (dr. vegas) on CBS. And while Hawaii probably won't make it, I don't see NBC moving this show just yet.] SITE UPDATE - A TRANSCRIPT of the third episode, 'Coming Home', has been added. 10/07/04 - An ARTICLE in the Washington Post listed the "winners" and "losers" in last week's television ratings. "Medical Investigation" is one of the winners: [In its first Friday broadcast, NBC's new procedural disease drama copped 10.8 million viewers. The next two weeks it suffered a ratings nosebleed, as viewers opted instead to make a fuss over Barbara Walters's exit from "20/20" and to give Rob Lowe one more chance at headlining his own series. With that business out of the way, last week "MI" clawed its way back up from 8 million and change to the preferable 10 million and change.] Also, four PHOTOS from the next new episode, "Team", have been added. 10/02/04 - NBC issued a PRESS RELEASE stating: [NBC has won another Friday in prime time's key demographic of adults 18-49, led by the hot new drama "Medical Investigation," which scored last night's #1 results in 18-49 and overall total viewers, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. From 10-11 p.m. ET, "Medical Investigation" (3.5 rating, 11 share in adults 18-49, 9.8 million viewers overall) won its hour in every key ratings category and beat the ABC-CBS competition combined among adults 18-34. "Medical Investigation" built by 17 percent on its 18-49 lead-in from "Third Watch" to claim the second highest rating out of the four regular-slot "MI" telecasts to date. Versus the same night last year, "Medical Investigation" improved the slot for NBC by 52 percent in 18-49 (3.5 vs. 2.3).] SITE UPDATE - Screen CAPTURES from the third episode, 'Coming Home', have been added. Thanks to Bev! SITE UPDATE - A TRANSCRIPT of the second episode, 'In Bloom', has been added. 9/30/04 - NBC issued a PRESS RELEASE and this is what they said about "Medical Investigation": [At 10 p.m. ET, "Medical Investigation" (3.2/10 in 18-49, 8.3 million viewers overall) grew by 10 percent over last week's 18-49 ratings to finish a strong #2 for the hour, ahead of the premiere of CBS' new drama "Dr. Vegas" by a 33 percent margin (3.2 vs. 2.4). "Medical Investigation" built on its 18-49 lead-in from "Third Watch," a significant upgrade from the previous week, when "MI" retained 85 percent of its "Third Watch" lead-in.] 9/29/04 - Unfortunately, the NBC Media Village, no longer, lists the repeat airing of the 'Pilot' on Oct. 9th. Probaby, the only sure-fire way to keep up with NBC's schedule is to visit the front page of their SITE on a daily basis. 9/27/04 - According to the NBC MEDIA VILLAGE, the 'Pilot' episode will be repeated on Saturday, Oct. 9th, at 9:00 p.m. (ET) SITE UPDATE - Screen CAPTURES from the second episode, 'In Bloom', have been added. (Thanks to Bev!) 9/25/04 - OVERNIGHT RATINGS: [At 10 p.m., ABC's "20/20" got the night's highest rating, 7.6/14, with Barbara Walters interviewing Mary Kay Letourneau, the former teacher who had an affair and a child with a then-13-year-old student. The premiere of "dr. vegas," 6.3/11, finished second for CBS, beating NBC's "Medical Investigation," 5.5/10.] 9/21/04 - For the week of 9/13/04 - 9/19/04, "Medical Investigation" dropped to #36 in the RATINGS. According to this ARTICLE, "sources indicated that Andries' strong background of character-driven dramas such as "Six Feet Under," "Boomtown" and "Alias" wasn't a good fit for the heavily procedural "Medical Investigation." 9/14/04 - For the week of 9/06/04 - 9/12/04, "Medical Investigation" ranked #8 for Thursday night's special preview and #11 for Friday night's premiere. HERE is a list of the top 20. 9/11/04 - An NBC PRESS RELEASE about "Medical Investigation's" ratings: 'MEDICAL INVESTIGATION' UNCOVERS BIG FRIDAY NUMBERS NBC's powerful new drama "Medical Investigation" has debuted in its regular Friday time period with the night's #1 results among adults 18-49 and overall total viewers, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.
